Students representing the Young Democrats and Young Republicans clubs held their annual debate on Nov. 4, 2016. Spanning nearly two hours, the students discussed pressing issues, including gun rights, immigration and terrorism.
Junior Leo Chen, who debated for the Young Republicans, hopes that the debate sparks discussion on the issues.
“I sure hope that it makes people think about these issues more, because whether they know it or not, it’s affecting them and their daily lives,” Chen said.
Senior Ben Tatsuoka, a Young Democrat, thinks that the debate was substantive.
“In terms of substance, the debate went really well,” Tatsuoka said. “All the debaters were very smart and prepared.”
