The field hockey team beat Great Valley 3-1 on Tuesday in the first round of the PIAA 3A Field Hockey Championship, securing a spot in the state quarterfinals.

After a slow first half with a strong defense from both teams, the girls went into halftime with a score of 0-0. The game picked up quickly in the second half, with freshman Peyton Esposito bringing the score to 1-0.

Junior Shae Wozniak scored the team’s second goal in the fourth quarter, with Great Valley quickly responding with a goal of its own to bring the score to 2-1. Wozniak scored again, settling the final score at 3-1.

The girls will play against Lower Dauphin High School in the state quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov. 11.
