On Feb. 26, the Pennsylvania Association of School Personnel Administrators (PASPA) honored Dr. Anthony C. Stevenson with the President’s Award. Stevenson is serving his fourth year as the TESD Director of Human Resources and received the award during the 40th Annual PASPA Conference, themed “Honoring HR Impact — 40 Years of PASPA Excellence.”
The President’s Award honors an individual working in human resources (HR) who has demonstrated exceptional leadership. PASPA looks for an individual who continually works to make an impact in the organization and the field of HR. Stevenson’s current HR work focuses on collaboration with school leaders across the district on staffing needs.
“This award reflects not only my work in education but also my contributions to the broader community,” Stevenson said. “Beyond my professional responsibilities, I am actively involved in initiatives that address issues such as food insecurity, housing challenges and supporting vulnerable populations. I believe strongly in service, and I strive to make a positive impact both within schools and in the community.”
Stevenson grew up in South Carolina, attended South Carolina State University, and later studied educational leadership at Temple University and the University of Pennsylvania. Stevenson’s career in education includes teaching at William Penn Charter School and Cheltenham High School. He later served as an administrator in the Radnor Township School District.
PASPA president John Council informed Stevenson of his accomplishment a month before the conference. Council cited Stevenson’s accomplishments, such as serving as Elected Commissioner in Lower Merion Township, as part of what made him stand out as a candidate.
“What makes Dr. Stevenson especially deserving of this award is not just the breadth of his resume, but the consistency of his character,” Council said. “He leads with intellect, integrity, humility and purpose. He understands the impact of school HR leaders and exemplifies what it means to lead with both excellence and heart.”
In the future, Stevenson hopes to continue his work in TESD. His goals include recruiting committed personnel to best support all students within the district.
“TESD is a wonderful place to work, and I feel fortunate to be part of such a strong school community,” Stevenson said. “I do not take this opportunity lightly and remain committed to supporting both our staff and students in meaningful ways.”
