On Wednesday, April 29, the softball team beat Lower Merion in five innings with a score of 15-1. Senior and pitcher Lyla Matzinger kicked off the first inning by striking three players out consecutively. During the second half of the inning, senior Drew McKenzie hit a home run, allowing ’Stoga to gain multiple runs.
In the second inning, ’Stoga increased its lead with three runs and ended the inning 6-0. The team extended its lead to 12-0, aided by senior Amanda Eck and junior Michelle Braverman.
In the fourth inning, Lower Merion scored a run. Junior Kiera Norton followed with a home run in the second half of the inning, followed by a couple more points, ending the fourth inning 15-1.
During the fifth inning, neither team scored a point. Due to a mercy rule in high school softball, the game ended early after the fifth inning, securing a 15-1 victory for Conestoga.
The girls play their next game on Thursday, April 30 against Ridley.
