On Monday, the boys’ ice hockey team won against Downingtown East 5-3.
During the first period, the boys demonstrated teamwork and accurate shooting, and managed to score two goals. Senior Shane Keller scored the first goal just three minutes into the period, putting Conestoga up 1-0. Less than 15 seconds later, Downingtown scored, balancing the scoreboard. With eight minutes left in the period, junior Henry Spottiswoode took back Conestoga’s lead, putting Conestoga up 2-1.
In the second period, junior Cole Hellman scored a goal with an assist from senior James Stagnaro, extending Conestoga’s lead to 3-1. With continued strong defense, the boys held their lead into the third period.
At the start of the third period, Downingtown East scored an early goal. Conestoga responded, with sophomore Michael Roberts scoring soon after. With one-and-a-half minutes remaining, Downingtown East scored, followed by Spottiswoode making a shot during defense with less than thirty seconds left, finalizing Conestoga’s victory at 5-3.
The boys play their next game on Wednesday, Feb. 11 against Marple Newtown High School.
