On Thursday, the girls’ lacrosse team emerged victorious against Springfield with a score of 8-7.
The game opened with an early goal from junior Lu Misener at the end of the first quarter, tying the score 1-1. Misener scored again early in the second quarter, assisted by junior Tori Hewitt. With three minutes remaining in the quarter, junior Bianca Antonacci and Hewitt scored, ending the quarter 4-2.
The third quarter established Conestoga’s lead, with a goal scored from sophomore Julia Cowgill. Strong defense was maintained throughout, and the Pioneers did not let their opponents catch their lead, ending the quarter 5-3.
In the final quarter, goals were secured by senior Maggie Neary and sophomore Brooke Bickel. The close game ultimately ended in Conestoga’s favor, resulting in a score of 8-7.
The girls play their next match on Saturday, April 25 against Henderson.
