On Wednesday, the softball team beat Strath Haven in a tight 5-4 walk-off victory. The Pioneers fell behind early on, with Strath Haven gaining a 3-0 lead by the second inning. Junior Abby Kilgarriff doubled, allowing junior Michelle Braverman to score Conestoga’s first run of the game for 3-1.
In an action-packed fifth inning, Kilgarriff hit a home run. She and Bravermen, who was already on base, scored two runs. Strath Haven scored a run as well, making it 4-3. In the sixth inning, senior Samantha Chu tied the scoreboard at 4-4. Because the score remained even until the seventh inning, the game entered an extra eighth inning. In the eighth inning, senior Lyla Matzinger hit a consequential ball, allowing senior Drew McKenzie to score a run and end the game with a 5-4 Conestoga win.
The girls play their next game on Thursday, April 16 against Lower Merion.
