On Wednesday, the girls’ basketball team played a thrilling game against Lower Merion. In the first minutes of the game, ’Stoga began with a strong lead with points scored by sophomore Maren Gallagher and senior Libby Brown. Continuing its strong offense, ’Stoga took the lead 21-9 ending the first quarter.
Conestoga held its lead in the second quarter, even with strong offense and countless shots from Lower Merion. Senior Maggie Neary played competitive defense and effectively held off Lower Merion. The game went into halftime with 38-23.
During the third quarter, ’Stoga continued to hold their advantage, though their lead was beginning to dwindle. Both teams began to amp up their competitiveness, with the quarter ending 53-42.
Heading into the fourth quarter, Lower Merion trailed close behind the Pioneers. In the last five minutes with ’Stoga at a three point advantage, senior Ryann Jennings dominated the court, showcasing great offense and defense. The Pioneers finished the close game, with 69-58.
The girls play their next game on Friday, Jan. 29 against Upper Darby.
