On Wednesday, the girls varsity basketball team played against Strathhaven in an exhilarating match. ’Stoga started off strong with points scored by senior Maggie Neary, senior Ryann Jennings and junior Natalie Garzio. With a strong lead, Conestoga finished off the first quarter 17-12.
Continuing to build on their advantage in the second quarter, Jennings and Neary scored relentlessly, extending the lead to 31-19. Adding to the excitement, Jennings reached a milestone in Conestoga’s history becoming the all-time leading scorer in girls basketball.
Conestoga maintained its dominance in the third quarter, widening the gap to 47-20 with junior Maddie Michalek anchoring an excellent defensive effort. In the fourth quarter, Jennings and Neary led the offense. The Pioneers finished the game strong, securing a decisive 58-30 victory.
The girls play their next game on Friday, Jan. 23 against Ridley.
