Students and staff from all eight T/E schools came together last Thursday night in Conestoga’s auditorium for T/E’s Got Talent, a variety show that featured musicians, skits and dance routines. The event ran from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m and was hosted by English teacher Michael Trainer, who gave commentary between performances. Entry tickets raised funds for Area Residents Caring & Helping (ARCH), a non-profit organization that aims to promote the well-being of local youth through programs and educational seminars.

Alongside Beaumont, Devon, Hillside, New Eagle and Valley Forge Elementary School as well as T/E and Valley Forge Middle School, Conestoga was responsible for four of the 17 acts on the show’s program. To open up the night, Seniors Deanna Drennen, Mandy McHale and Julia Scribano sang a reprise of “Marry the Man Today” from “Guys and Dolls.” Chemistry teacher Michael Kane presented “Kane Komedy,” a freeform, stand up comedy bit. Chef Jimmy Delecce, math teacher Bill Dewees, assistant principal Anthony Dilella, guidance counselor Brian Samson and English teacher Ben Smith formed the Van Leer Cabin Band, performing “Come Together” by the Beatles and “Little Black Submarines” by the Black Keys. Members of the ’Stoga Breakers danced to a custom mashup, concluding the night.

The ’Stoga Breakers meet every Tuesday and Wednesday afterschool for club meetings; they had started work on the routine since the end of spring break.

The most difficult part of preparing for the routine was “getting everyone to focus and everyone motivated to actually put in the work for it,” said Sophomore Allen He, a member of ’Stoga Breakers. “I think the performance we gave was subpar, but the performance overall was incredible.”

“I think it went great, and although there could be some improvements, everyone did their best,” senior breaker Vincent Nguyen said.
