The Foundation for Learning in Tredyffrin Easttown (FLITE) club presented a $1,500 check to the district on Wednesday. The funds were raised from the last two Harlem Wizards events the club held at Conestoga. The money will go towards funding summer reading books for those in the district who cannot afford them.

“Flite has been providing the funds for the high school summer reading books for the past couple years and now we just want to expand it to the middle schools, so that all students in the T/E school district can get summer reading books if they do need them,” said Hope Skelly, FLITE’s co-president.

FLITE is a nonprofit that transfers its funds raised back into the district by providing school supplies and assisting with SAT classes and homework club. Club president Kate Bailey says this $1,500 will aid in FLITE’s mission.

“We’re really excited to donate it back student to student,” Bailey said.

At the check presentation, advisory board member Darian Threadgill made a statement thanking the organization.

“The FLITE board would like to thank the FLITE club for their efforts and endeavors in raising this money. It really does a great job for all our students at Conestoga and in the T/E school district. We appreciate it,” Threadgill said.
