Conestoga’s Robotics Team had an impressive start to its competitive season this year. Teams 6121A and 6121C have qualified for the state-wide VEX robotics competition in March, upholding ‘Stoga’s reputation for success from the past few years.
The club has been preparing for this victory since September. Six teams worked individually outside of school at each team captain’s home to construct robots and prepare for competitions. During club meetings, members of the club discuss plans of action and full-group details.
The club’s first competition of the season was the Vexmen Showdown VRC Qualifying tournament held in Downingtown on Dec. 10th. This was one of the competitions that determined whether the teams would qualify for states. Teams 6121C, 6121D, 6121E and 6121F all reached round 16 of the tournament. Team 6121A reached the quarterfinals. Overall, Conestoga performed with promising results.
The teams’ next competition showed their true ability. It also decided whether or not they would compete at the state level. At New Foundations Charter School on Jan. 7th, teams 6121A, 6121B, 6121C and 6121D competed against other participants for their chance to go to states. Team 6121A won the tournament, and team 6121C managed to qualify for states as well due to their outstanding performance in the skills challenge.
The Robotics Team is proud of these results and looks forward to more success, ready to compete at their best at the upcoming Rambots Qualifier in February.
