The Archery Club began its competition season with a huge success on Sunday Jan. 8 , with club President Jimmy Zhao and Vice President Tony Tong competing at Hershey Winter Series at Palmyra Sportsmen’s. Zhao placed second with a score of 482 and Tong secured third place with a score of 472.

The Archery Club, established in 2021 by Zhao and Tong, has a total of 14 members who represent Conestoga at various tournaments. Zhao and Tong conduct practice sessions on Wednesdays at Aimpoint Archery Range to help the members prepare for competitions.

“For the new members and veterans, this season is their first tournament series, and we want them to experience the intensity of the competition so that they can be ready next year. All in all, this is the last year before the push for gold,” Tong said.

Zhao looks forward to a successful season as more tournaments are set to gain momentum in late January and February.

“Archery is a well-known sport, but a lot of people don’t take it up,” Zhao said. “The hope is we are able to grow Conestoga’s archery club and the community as a whole.”
