After a hard fought battle against Garnet Valley, the boys’ varsity basketball team lost 52-39 in the Central League Championship on Thursday, March 4. The game started out with both squads going back and forth, but early in the second quarter, Garnet Valley sharpshooter Ryan Wootten hit three straight corner three-pointers, giving the Jags a double digit lead going into the half. ’Stoga bounced back with seven third-quarter points from senior Austin Fontaine, putting the Pioneers within striking distance late in the third quarter. Unfortunately, with a string of controversial foul calls from the referees in the final minutes, Garnet Valley was able to close the game out and take home the Central League title. ’Stoga’s season will continue Tuesday, March 9 in the first round of districts.
