The boys’ varsity basketball team handily defeated Strath Haven in the semi-finals of the Central League playoffs on Tuesday, March 21. The squad got off to a fast start by hitting several three-pointers and playing excellent defense in the first half, putting them up 34-19 by halftime. Strath Haven started making a comeback at the start of the third quarter but they were quickly stopped by the elite ’Stoga defense. ’Stoga then expanded the lead by contesting all of Strath Haven’s shots and passing the ball effectively, leading them to a 63-40 victory. Senior Jeremiah Miller led the team in scoring and junior Ryan Mackey led in rebounds. Next up for the Pioneers is the Central League Championship against Garnet Valley. A victory in this matchup would give ’Stoga the number one seed going into districts.
