The Conestoga varsity football team lost to Marple Newtown 35-21 during its homecoming game on Oct. 5.

Senior Michael Mariani scored quickly in the first quarter, and junior Michael Prestipino scored twice in the second quarter, the team leaving the first half tied 21-21.

In the second half, Marple Newtown ran the game, scoring two more touchdowns and picking off several Pioneer passes.

Conestoga’s defense performed better throughout; senior P.J. Hewitt, junior Scott Smith, senior Milton Robinson, and junior Riley DeShetler were standouts.

At halftime, Robinson also joined the homecoming court in walking across the field, voted homecoming king by his grade.

The rest of the homecoming court took the field at halftime as well.

The Conestoga varsity football team plays Harriton on Oct. 12.
