Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Hope you’re having a wonderful holiday! Whatever you may be celebrating, the holiday season is coming to a close. Make sure you end it right with the number one Christmas movie of all time, Elf.

For those of you who haven’t watched it (but let’s be real you’ve seen this movie over a hundred times), Elf is about Buddy, a human raised by elves. Buddy, played by Will Ferrell, discovers that his elf dad (Bob Newhart) isn’t his real dad (James Caan), so he sets off on a journey to find his real father in New York City. When Buddy finds out that his real dad’s on the naughty list, he’s devastated. He uses his natural charm to show his dad the true spirit of Christmas. Along the way he travels through the five layers of the candy cane forest, tries to hug a raccoon, discovers the world’s best cup of coffee, decorates a department store and saves Christmas.

One of the most hilarious scenes in the movie is when Buddy exposes a fake Santa, saying he “doesn’t smell like Santa, (he) smells like beef and cheese.” After ripping off the fake Santa’s beard he tells him that he “sits on a throne of lies.”

Elf is full of humor, romance, adventure and Christmas spirit. With its classic Christmas-y charm, Elf soars above all those other holiday favorites. Neither Home Alone or the Santa Clause have epic snowball fights, shiny mailrooms, chases with the central park rangers, or an elf that fixes the jet engine on Santa’s sleigh. So sit down with a candy cane and a cup of hot cocoa and watch this number one Christmas movie.
