On Saturday, the boys’ soccer team battled Holy Ghost Prep for a tight 2-1 win.
Both teams started strong in the first half with great defense all around. There were no goals from either side until freshman Dylan Grilley scored a goal assisted by senior Ryan Monroe near the end of the half. The boys continued to fight before ending the first half in the lead 1-0.
In the second half, the teams went back and forth with many opportunities, but neither could score. With 15 minutes left in the half, Holy Ghost Prep scored, tying the game into overtime.
Going into two additional 10-minute periods of overtime, neither team could execute a goal in the first 10-minute period. With three minutes left on the clock in the second period, senior Remy Tshibangu scored a free kick, securing a 2-1 win against Holy Ghost Prep.
The boys play their senior night and last regular season game on Tuesday, Oct. 14 against Marple Newtown.
