The boys’ soccer team played against Parkland on Saturday. The game ended in a draw 1-1.
In the first half, both teams fought to take the lead first. Fifteen minutes into the game, the boys pressed into Parkland’s half and developed an opportunity to score. Freshman Dylan Grilley scored a goal off an assist by junior Eric Wilson, allowing ’Stoga a 1-0 lead. The first half ended 1-0, with no additional goals by either team.
In the second half, ’Stoga’s defense worked to keep Parkland from scoring, keeping the boys in the lead 1-0. With just four minutes left, Parkland found their way to the goal and scored, tying the teams at 1-1. In the last minutes of the game, both teams pushed to score the winning goal but were unsuccessful. The second half ended 1-1 and the game went into overtime.
After the two additional 10-minute periods of overtime, no team scored a goal, and the game ended in a draw 1-1.
The boys play Springfield next on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
