On Monday, the girls’ volleyball team fell short 3-2 to Marple Newtown in a hard-fought game.
Conestoga built momentum throughout the first set and won 25-20. In the second set, the Pioneers continued to display a great effort but lost in a very close set 25-23.
During the third set, the team’s setters and hitters displayed strong collaboration that helped them make many controlling plays. The servers delivered many consistent and tough balls for the opposing team, helping ’Stoga surge ahead 25-13 in the third set.
In the fourth set, Conestoga continued delivering powerful spikes and making critical blocks and saves, however, they lost 26-24 in deuce.
During the last set, the girls made impressive saves that resulted in long, stressful rallies. Ultimately, the Pioneers lost 17-15 in another deuce after putting up a strong fight.
The girls play their next game on Wednesday, Sept. 10 against Strath Haven.
