On Tuesday, the girls’ soccer team played their season opener and won 2-1 against Strath Haven.
During the first half of the game, the Pioneers kept up a resilient defense and offense, but ended half time 0-0.
The second half started off strong with junior Julia Rick scoring a goal through a free kick with 35 minutes left on the clock. Soon after, Strath Haven made a goal that tied the second half of the game at 1-1.
The game eventually went into overtime, and both teams played tough offenses. The Pioneers finally scored a goal by senior Lauren Grimes with senior Fure Abhulimen assisting her, bringing the final score to 2-1.
The girls play their next game on Tuesday, Sept. 9 versus Ridley.
