On Thursday, the football team lost to Upper Darby 29-9.
The Pioneers had a strong start during the first quarter, with their defense scoring a touchdown off a fumble. Following an extra point from senior kicker Rayan Irani, Conestoga led the game 7-0. Upper Darby soon responded with a touchdown of their own, bringing the score to 7-7 at the end of the first quarter.
Upper Darby pulled ahead by scoring two touchdowns in the second quarter, but the Pioneers fought back as sophomore Christian Crump blocked an extra point, ending the first half with a score of 20-7.
Going into the second half, ’Stoga rallied back by scoring a safety, earning two more points. Upper Darby then increased its lead to 22-9 by scoring another touchdown toward the end of the third quarter.
’Stoga continued to battle going into the fourth quarter. Ultimately, Upper Darby scored another touchdown to conclude the game with a final score of 29-9.
The boys will play their next game against Radnor on Friday, Sept. 5.
