Every year, members of the Best Buddies club at Conestoga display their talent when representing the school at the Best Buddies Talent Show. This year, Conestoga hosted schools from around the county in the auditorium with the help of the music department, with planning for the event starting in January when the club reached out to the advisers of the clubs of nearby schools.
Club leadership choreographed Conestoga’s performance, a dance to Justin Bieber’s “Beauty and a Beat.” Unionville High School’s, Rustin High School’s and Henderson High School’s Best Buddies clubs performed as well. Unionville performed “Dance the Night” by Dua Lipa, Rustin performed “Rockin’ Robin” by Michael Jackson, and Henderson performed “I’m Still Standing” by Elton John.
Sophomore and Conestoga Best Buddies club member Sam Porter performed at the show. Porter said that his favorite part of the club was playing games with his buddies and that he enjoyed dancing at the talent show.
“My favorite part about the talent show was doing the dancing,” Porter said. “My favorite part about the dancing was moving my whole legs and body to the music.”
This year is the second year for club adviser Madison Snear. She said the purpose of the event was to have a good time and meet the buddies from the other high schools.
“The event is important because it gives us a really fun day and brings all the students together. It’s a nice opportunity for the buddies and peers to be able to work together and the students who aren’t a part of the club to be able to come watch it and have fun with us,” Snear said.
On May 21, Conestoga Best Buddies will join other schools from the county one more time at Henderson for a fun with friends field day.
