On Thursday, the boys’ lacrosse team lost against Garnet Valley in a heavy defeat of 9-2.
The Pioneers started the game strong with a goal off of the opening face-off by senior Holt McGinn. With only a minute-and-a-half left in the first quarter, sophomore Brian Ford scored to tie the game at 2-2. This was the last goal of the game by the Pioneers.
In the second quarter, the boys’ defense was not enough to stop the offense of Garnet Valley, which ended the quarter leading 4-2. After halftime, senior Michael Johnson stepped up defensively and made a pass that almost resulted in a goal. However, the team could not stop Garnet Valley’s offense, and the third quarter ended with Conestoga trailing 6-2.
In the first three minutes of the fourth quarter, Garnet Valley scored two more goals. An additional Garnet Valley goal brought the final score to 9-2.
The boys will play their next game on April 10 against Upper Darby.
