The boys’ basketball team beat Cheltenham High School 52-44 in the District 1 6A quarterfinals on Friday.
In the first quarter, both teams started off strong. Conestoga ended the quarter down 16-14. In the second quarter, Cheltenham maintained its lead with three two-point shots and one three-point shot. Two fouls by Cheltenham gave Conestoga a boost, with junior Rowan Miller making both of his free throw shots and junior Cory Hogan making one of his two shots. By halftime, Cheltenham led 25-24.
Cheltenham powered into the second half, widening its lead and finishing the third quarter up 39-34. In the fourth quarter, Conestoga regained its balance with the assistance of seven more fouls by Cheltenham, finishing off the game with a 52-44 victory.
