On Wednesday, the boys’ wrestling team beat Marple Newtown 47-27 on their senior night. The game kicked off with Marple Newtown ahead by six points. The Pioneers caught up in the second match, tying the two teams at 6-6. The score moved to 6-22 with three consecutive matches won by Marple Newtown.
Conestoga brought the score up to 18-22, followed by a loss boosting Marple Newtown to a 18-27 lead. Shortly after, ’Stoga seniors led the rally with a comeback of four pins in the final four matches, with senior and captain Teddy McKenzie securing a win in the final match and claiming a 47-27 victory for the Pioneers.
The boys will wrestle against Strath Haven next on Saturday, Feb. 8 in the Panther Duels.
