On Tuesday, the girls’ basketball team defeated Haverford 36-32.
Haverford started the game out strong, taking a 5-0 lead, but Conestoga rallied to take a 10-5 lead to end the first quarter, with junior Ryann Jennings scoring a three-pointer. The Pioneers maintained their advantage in the second quarter to take a 17-13 halftime lead, with Jennings scoring another three-pointer.
During halftime, Conestoga celebrated over 50 years of girls basketball and honored the 1973-74 girls basketball Central League champions. In the third quarter, Haverford erased Conestoga’s lead, bringing the game to a 25-25 tie heading into the fourth quarter. The Pioneers then took a 29-27 lead and never trailed for the rest of the game, ultimately winning 36-32.
The win was the last game of the regular season for Conestoga, which finishes with an overall record of 17-5.
