On Thursday, Jan. 30, the girls’ basketball team defeated Upper Darby 70-20.
The Pioneers started off with a strong lead of 15-3, with senior Ruth Lanouette scoring 11 points and senior Janie Preston making four free throws by the end of the first quarter. The girls then increased their lead with junior Maggie Neary’s buzzer-beater, ending the second quarter up 39-7.
After halftime, Conestoga’s tight defense prevented Upper Darby from scoring and allowed the Pioneers to expand their lead to 55-7. During the fourth quarter, both teams performed well. However, the Pioneers came out victorious, ending the game with a final score of 70-20.
The girls play their last game of the home season on Tuesday, Feb. 4 against Haverford.
