On Friday, the girls’ basketball team faced Marple Newtown for its Senior Night game. The girls won 64-26 and celebrated team manager Senae Harris and players Ruth Lanouette, Courtney McKenna, Kate Martin, Janie Preston and Rebecca Schmidt.
The girls started off with an early lead in the first quarter due to major contributions from Preston, with the score ending at 11-6. In the second quarter, Lanouette and junior Maggie Neary scored the most points off of counterattacks, widening the lead and closing off the quarter up 31-18. After halftime, the girls’ defense stayed strong, blocking shots and keeping their lead of 52-18. The Pioneers won the game 64-26.
The girls play Upper Darby next on Thursday, Jan. 30.
