The wrestling team lost to Garnet Valley on Wednesday, with a final score of 43-18.
Garnet Valley scored six points in the first match, taking the lead against the Pioneers. Garnet Valley continued to score points, ending the sixth match up 25-0. Sophomore Fedor Akimov secured the first victory for Conestoga, scoring six points against Garnet Valley. Junior Steven Wiechecki scored six points in the next match, bringing the score to 25-12 by the eighth match, with Garnet Valley still maintaining a lead.
In the following three matches, Garnet Valley continued to increase its lead, bringing the score to 38-12 by the end of the 11th match. Even with senior Pavel Chernousov scoring six more points for Conestoga in the penultimate match, Garnet Valley gained five final points to win the meet 43-18.
The team will compete in the Central League Championships at Harriton on Jan. 18.
