The boys’ basketball team defeated Great Valley 46-38 on Saturday.
Junior Cory Hogan scored the first points early on in the first quarter. After Conestoga took an early lead, senior Sam Gibbs and juniors Shane O’Brien and Rowan Miller scored multiple three-point shots to secure a 17-11 lead by the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the score remained close between the teams. Sophomore Sunny Tummala made a basket followed up with a two-point layup by Hogan. Later on, Gibbs made a pass to Tummala who scored a three-pointer. Reaching halftime, the team remained in the lead 26-20.
Halfway through the third quarter, Hogan blocked a layup from Great Valley. Senior Ben Robinson and Gibbs both scored toward the end of the quarter as well. Great Valley began to narrow Conestoga’s lead, but the boys managed to end the quarter up 33-30.
In the final quarter, Hogan scored for Conestoga, breaking a 33-33 tie. Robinson scored a three-pointer from a pass by Miller, and Miller ran down the court with a pass from O’Brien to secure a Conestoga lead in the final minutes of the game. The team won the game 46-38.
