The field hockey team won 2-1 against Villa Maria on Saturday at the PIAA 3A State Championship after not having made it to the state championship in 37 years.
Junior Alivia D’Ascanio secured an early lead for Conestoga by scoring in the first quarter. The team maintained its lead into halftime. In the third quarter, Villa Maria scored a goal, tying the score 1-1.
With no goals in the fourth quarter, the game progressed into overtime. Just over a minute in, senior Shae Wozniak scored a goal to secure the team its PIAA 3A state title.
