On Monday, Oct. 7, girls volleyball faced Lower Merion in their “Dig Pink” event, winning 3-1. The event aimed to raise breast cancer awareness by giving out free pink T-shirts to promote the team and fundraising through raffles, bake sales and a “Pin a Ribbon” board. On the board, audience members recognized loved ones affected by breast cancer by writing their name on a pink ribbon to pin to the board.
The varsity team took the court at 6 p.m. The first set was a close match, but Lower Merion pulled ahead and won the set 25-21. Conestoga bounced back in the second set, winning 25-20 after a back-and-forth match. The Pioneers continued their momentum into the third and fourth sets, winning 25-21 and 25-12, respectively, to win the match 3-1.
The girls’ next game will be at Springfield on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
