On Thursday, Sep. 26, the girls’ soccer team beat Springfield 4-0.
During the first half, the girls kept up a strong defense with junior Emily Klaiber making key saves as goalkeeper. The Pioneers came close to scoring several times, with one shot deflected off the crossbar. Ultimately, the half ended 0-0.
In the second half, senior Keira Kemmerley scored a goal one minute in and another with 34 minutes left. Soon after, sophomore Payton McCall scored, bringing up the score to 3-0 for the girls.
The team kept up their defense for the remainder of the game, with goalkeeper and junior Isabella Montalvo preventing Springfield from scoring several times. Finally, with three minutes left, senior Liv Spaulding scored the final goal, ending the game 4-0 for ’Stoga.
The girls’ play next on Saturday, Sep. 28 against Unionville.
