On Thursday, the girls’ soccer team defeated Garnet Valley 3-2.
In the first half, an assist from junior Fure Abhulimen allowed senior Keira Kemmerley to secure the first goal for ’Stoga, bringing the score to 1-0. Garnet Valley responded in the last five minutes of the half to tie the score 1-1.
After halftime, Garnet Valley scored again and brought the score to 2-1. With 5 minutes left in the half, senior Isabelle Allred scored, leading to a tie of 2-2.
During overtime, the first 10 minutes passed with no goals on either side. The Pioneers won in the second half of overtime with a penalty kick, ending the game 3-2.
The girls’ next game will be on Saturday, Sept. 14 against Chestnut Hill Academy.
