On Wednesday, the girls’ tennis team came up short, losing 6-1 to Lower Merion in the Central League Championship match.
At second doubles, junior Kaitlyn Parson and freshman Dalia Tsang won with a 6-1, 6-1 match. Both third and fourth doubles went into a tiebreak, with junior Allie Frederick and freshman Elaina Wang losing 3-6, 6-6, 4-7 and senior Celina Zhang and freshman Leanne Ko losing 6-4, 1-6, (3). In singles, seniors Sarah Weng and Soumya Sathyanarayana and junior Melody Weng also faced tough losses, with scores of 0-6,0-6; 3-6, 0-6; and 1-6, 0-6; respectively.
The girls play their next match against Harriton on Sept. 17.
