Ready, set, integrate! After school on May 2, the Girls in STEM club hosted Conestoga’s first-ever Integration Bee, a spelling bee-style math competition with a grand prize of a $30 Amazon gift card. The competition was based on MIT’s Integration Bee, which has been running for 43 years. With 17 contestants, there were two rounds of qualifications before the competition was narrowed down to five players in the final round. Spectators cheered and enjoyed free snacks as the finalists raced to earn points in the last round. After a tiebreaker question, freshman Andy Wu placed first, senior Andrew Yao placed second and sophomore Andrew Zhang placed third.
The Girls in STEM club plans on hosting more Integration Bees in future years.
