On Friday, the boys’ varsity lacrosse team beat Germantown Academy 7-3 in its season opener.

The boys ended the first quarter in the lead by 2-0. Junior and goalie Mikey Johnson made crucial saves throughout the first half with the help of sophomore Gunnar Flesher on defense. Junior Holt McGinn and freshman Brian Ford both scored in the second quarter, helping the Pioneers enter halftime up 4-1.

Senior Cliff Hawkins scored in the beginning of the third quarter, but Conestoga was unable to prevent two goals from Germantown Academy.

It still entered the fourth quarter ahead 5-3. The boys had strong defense and rotations in the fourth quarter, allowing them to score two more times and ending the game with a 7-3 win.

The team will play its next game on Monday, March 18 against Avon Grove.
