January
Members of the Asian American Culture Club parade around the school in a traditional Chinese Lion costume. The club celebrated Lunar New Year during the third week of January with festivities and cultural meetings that highlighted East Asian culture. The club plans to host similar events every Lunar New Year.
February
People browse through food selections and listen to live music at the Folio’s Inkwell event. The Folio hosted its “Alice in Wonderland”-themed event on Feb. 4 to celebrate the release of its winter issue.
March
People visit the Longwood Gardens Conservatory. In March, Longwood Gardens acquired the Granogue estate after working on the transaction for eight years, located in New Castle County, Delaware, during March and is helping to conserve the New Castle County, Delaware property.
April
Then-freshman Melissa Guillen vaults over a pole at practice. Guillen competed in both pole vaulting and hurdle competitions in her freshman year, being the fourth fastest freshman in the Pennsylvania 55-meter hurdles.
June
The girls’ varsity lacrosse team plays West Chester Rustin. The girls went to states last year, and they work toward accomplishing their personal goals.
September
The cheerleading team performs a routine during the annual pep rally organized by Conestoga’s Student Council at the start of the 2023-24 school year. Students and staff gathered around Teamer Field to anticipate the homecoming dance and watch many activities, such as the Marching Pioneer Band’s performance and a field goal kicking competition. Student Council will continue this tradition in future years.
October
A grease fire in a consumer science kitchen sets off the fire alarm and calls for a mass evacuation of the school on Oct. 2. Later that week on Oct. 6, students and staff had to evacuate again due to faulty machinery setting off the alarm, and the two evacuations initially left many students and staff wondering what set the alarms off.
November
The Conestoga boys’ soccer team poses for a team photo after winning the 2023 PIAA 4A State Champion title. Each player holds six fingers to mark this as their sixth state title. They played a close 2-1 game against Central Bucks South High School on Friday, November 17th. Though seventeen of the 31 members will be graduating this year, they hope to continue this success with the younger members in the coming seasons.
December
Todd Kantorczyk and Sue Tiede, the newly sworn-in school board president and vice president, respectively, pose for a photo. The two were among the five members the board swore in at the Dec. 4 meeting.
