The boys’ varsity basketball team played against Lower Merion on Thursday, losing 42-37.
During the first quarter, Lower Merion and Conestoga were evenly matched, ending the quarter tied 9-9. As the second quarter began, the Pioneers started falling behind and entered halftime down 19-15.
Coming back refueled, they began to catch up, ending the third quarter 26-24 with Lower Merion ahead by two points.
The fourth quarter continued the back-and-forth action as the score was tied at 28-28 with around five minutes left in the game. No player scored until around a minute later when Lower Merion took the lead. The boys attempted to recover but fell short in the end, losing 42-37.
Their next game is against Upper Darby on Tuesday, Dec. 19.
