Boys soccer dominates Upper Merion 4-0 in district playoffs

The boys’ varsity soccer team beat Upper Merion 4-0 on Thursday during the second round of the PIAA District 1 4A Boys Soccer Tournament. The Pioneers also celebrated their annual Senior Night with a white-out theme.

The team honored its 17 senior players: Jack Akins, Aria Azad, Tommy Barausky, Ryan Carella, Kieran Chetty, Brady Costin, Charlie Culbert, Sleem Emam, Westin Fryberger, Julian Gomez, Michael Haley, Ethan Howard, Zane Khalil, Mason McCall, Luke Nevins, Kole Wintersteen and Ryan Zellefrow.

The boys started out strong in the first half, with junior Cole Frederick scoring the first goal and Wintersteen scoring the second.

The boys continued their momentum following halftime. Emam scored another goal, and the final goal was made by Zellefrow within the last 10 minutes, securing a 4-0 win.

The boys advance to the tournament’s quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 28.
