Girls soccer secures victory in second round of district playoffs

On Thursday, the girls’ varsity soccer team faced off against Plymouth Whitemarsh and won 1-0 in the second round of the PIAA District 1 4A Girls Soccer Tournament. 

The teams had a heated back and forth for most of the first half until sophomore Kate Kemmerley, assisted by sophomore Lauren Grimes, scored a goal for ’Stoga with nine minutes until halftime. The Pioneers and Plymouth Whitemarsh maintained their aggressive defenses up to the end of the first half.

Both teams continued their strong defenses throughout the second half, and no further goals were scored. The Pioneers ended with a victory of 1-0.

The girls will play in the tournament’s quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 28.
