Girls tennis beats Unionville, secures spot in states

On Tuesday, the girls’ varsity tennis team defeated Unionville 3-2, continuing its undefeated season and securing a spot in the PIAA 3A girls’ tennis team state championship.

The team gained an early victory with senior Jennifer He defeating her opponent 6-0, 6-1. Following the win, senior Katherine Emmanuel won her match 6-1, 6-1. In doubles, sophomore Sofia Calvitti and junior Sarah Weng also won 6-4, 6-1.

With the 3-2 victory in the second round of districts, the team advances to the state level tournament. The girls will play their next match against Downingtown East on Thursday, Oct. 12.
