On Friday Dec. 11, the boys varsity hockey team continued their outstanding season with a 6-3 win over the Lower Merion Aces. Goals were scored by freshman Will Schnorr and sophomores Will Delaney, Tate Kienzle and Scott MacMillan. Juniors Turner Kaufman and Tommy Sopko also scored. After a scoreless first period, the Pioneers took the lead in the second with three goals. In the third, the Aces put themselves in the game and scored three goals, but the Pioneers stayed strong and never lost their lead, matching the Aces with three more goals.
The team was down two defense men and two forwards, including their sophomore star Matt Cameron. The Pioneers are currently leading their division with a 5-2-0 record.
“We played well today, they played a smart game, even though we were missing a few guys,” coach Mike Graves said.
