Playing with passion: Girls field hockey defeats Gwynedd Mercy

On Saturday, the girls’ field hockey team defeated Gwynedd Mercy 4-1.

Gwynedd Mercy scored the first goal of the game at the start of the second quarter. However, the Pioneers mainly kept the ball in their possession for the rest of the quarter. Junior Shea Wozniak made two goals, giving ’Stoga a 2-1 lead by halftime. 

In the beginning of the third quarter, freshman Peyton Esposito scored a goal during a penalty stroke. During another penalty stroke at the end of the quarter, Wozniak scored again. The girls continued playing strong and prevented any goals in the fourth quarter, ending with a 4-1 win.

Their next game will be on Tuesday, Sept. 12 against Haverford.
