Girls tennis triumphs over Baldwin 7-0

The girls’ tennis team played its fifth match of the season against The Baldwin School today.

The Pioneers asserted their lead in the singles matches, with sophomore Isabelle Emmanuel obtaining a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Co-captains and seniors Kate Emmanuel and Jennifer He contributed 6-3, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-1 wins, respectively.

The streak continued with the doubles matches. Partners sophomore Sofia Calvitti and junior Anika Maganti won 6-3, 6-1. This was followed by a 6-1, 6-1 win by partners and sophomores Angela Manful and Melody Weng. Juniors Sowmya Krishna and Sarah Weng secured their 6-2, 6-3 victory, and senior Melissa Fan and junior Soumya Sathyanarayana won 6-3, 6-4 to ensure the final score of 7-0.

The girls play their next match on Sept. 5 against Garnet Valley High School.
