The Conestoga Pioneers opened their season 0-1 after losing 25-22 to the Owen J. Roberts Wildcats last night.

The game started with the Wildcats scoring a touchdown in the first quarter. The Pioneers responded in the second quarter with a touchdown of their own by senior Jude Cook, ending the first half tied 7-7. Junior Jonah Brown also helped fend off the Wildcats’ offense with multiple pass deflections.

The Wildcats opened the fourth quarter with a screen pass touchdown. The Pioneers responded with a 50-yard run by senior Jude Cook to the 1-yard line, finished off with a touchdown the very next play. The Wildcats converted a 50-yard touchdown pass in the final minutes of the game, bringing the score to 25-15. The Pioneers fought hard for a comeback and scored a touchdown; however, their efforts came up short with a failed on-site kick as the game ended.

The boys will play their next game on Friday, Sept. 1 against Haverford High School.
