Conestoga Football Alumni Association awards $24,000 in scholarships
Brief and photos by Miya Cao and Isabelle Emmanuel, Staff Reporters
On Friday, June 2, members of the Conestoga football community gathered at Teamer Field to honor seven graduating seniors for their achievements on and off the field. In total, the Tredyffrin/Easttown Conestoga Football Alumni Association awarded $24,000 in scholarships — an all-time record. The nonprofit, which was formerly known as the T/E Oldtimers Football Association, has given $197,500 in scholarships and donated $10,000 to the Special Olympics since 2010, through the support of their members and donors.
Each scholarship was dedicated to a former notable member of Conestoga’s varsity football team or sponsored by a private group. The following seniors received scholarships: Bobby Irvine, Jimmy Marturano, Jon Quici, Jeremy Friend, Drew Merschel, Jake Allred and Peter Costigan. Three out of the seven athletes were captains in two sports, and all were valuable members of the football community.
