At the annual wrestling Senior Night ceremony on Feb. 2, Conestoga recognized seniors Mitch Baker, Jake Cole, Joel DeFreytas, Tommy Duffy, Aidan Foster and Ben Reed for their contributions to the wrestling team over the past four years.
Later that evening, the Pioneers defeated Penncrest at their wrestling meet with a final score of 52-22. Hayden McLellan, Bryce Beltrante, Miles Warkentine, Joel Defreytas and Mitch Baker won their matches by pinning their opponents, earning 30 points for Conestoga. Due to Penncrest’s forfeits in the 215 pound, 106 pound and 120 pound weight classes, wrestlers Jake Cole, Gunnar Russo and Miles Warkentine were also victorious.
The Senior Night meet marked coach Tom Elicker’s 100th career win, and the athletes gifted him a cake to celebrate his achievement. With this victory, the team is now 8-6 in their season.
