The boys’ varsity football team lost their final regular season home game to Radnor on Oct. 18. A strong start from Radnor gave them an early lead by seven points within the first five minutes, but they were stopped by lockdown defensive play from the Pioneers. In the second quarter, senior Liam Kirk broke the barrier of 1,000 rushing yards this season.
Radnor stretched their lead in the third quarter with 2 more touchdowns to bring the score to 21-0. In the fourth quarter, Radnor made yet another touchdown and extended the score line to a 28-point difference. Soon afterwards, ‘Stoga was able to bypass the Radnor defense with a touchdown by Peter Detweiler, but ‘Stoga ultimately lost 28-7.
Throughout the game, seniors on the football team, cheerleading team and marching band were recognized for their contributions to the TE community. Despite the game’s disappointing result, ‘Stoga fans remained supportive and on their feet during the entirety of the game. The Pioneers will meet on the gridiron with Haverford on Oct. 25 at 7:00 pm.
